Better to Ask Forgiveness than Permission?

Okay so the old homage "Better to ask forgiveness than permission" does not ring true with me.

My parents are in Florida right now, and there are so many rooms that I would absolutely love to redo. I thought it would be interesting and fun to change a room completely before they got home. My Mom had told me she thought I would have done this before, when they had been on vacation.

Well I caved and told them I wanted to redo our main bathroom. I'm honest to a flaw, and can't lie to my parents.
I wish I had a picture to show you of the bathroom right now, but maybe I'll take one tonight. Bottom line: outdated.

Our house was built in 1991 and the bathroom shows it with the old vanity, standard mirror, linoleum white counters, pink walls and floral border. Am I making you cringe?

Well I suppose for everything I want to do, I simply can't alone. Sure, I could paint, but then when the vanity eventually gets replaced behind that will need to be painted. And when the mirror comes down and a framed one is added, paint will need to be added there as well.

Instead I have constructed an idea board for them to approve and then we can all get the project started together.

First, my inspiration:
HGTV: "1merry1"

HGTV: "danien"

I'm thinking beachy, soothing, light, airy. So now that I have my work cut out for me here is my idea book that I created:

So everything aside from decor can be found at Home Depot. That's where I found the vanity, vanity top, sink, lighting, toilet paper holder, towel holder and Behr paint (in salty tear).
The Mirror is from JC Penneys and the Shower Curtain is compliments of Amazon.com.

Any thoughts on this palette?

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." - John 13:34-35

  1. I...am... LOVING the second pic. Is that a light green? I think M.B. will be maaaajor proud of whichever you choose, and will hop on board with lightning speed. If M.B. and M.P. are anything alike, which.. I mean lets be honest... then that room will be up to 2010 standards in ten minutes flat.

    Bottom line: You're fabulous!

  2. PS the mirror is precious. If anyone in your household disagrees, have them give Megan a call...

  3. Happy First Day of Lent sweetie! That's fantastic that you're giving up junk foods- that's huge congrats in and of itself!

Is it not unbelievable how many people are suffering from gluten intolerance nowadays?! We never dreamt of that before! Honestly, I don't eat a LOT of bread, but I do crave it, and when I do...it's too much! I daren't have a loaf in the house!!! I'll post a few recipes and alternatives to bread over Lent...and some deelish gluten-free recipes!!
