Pleasure of a Porch Pt 2.

I blogged before about how I was going to update my family's screened in porch to the best of my abilities and budget, and that I did.

Outside we had a iron table with tan cushions and a few very old white iron tables. There were tons of leaves blown into the room and it was all very dirty.

I took to spring cleaning this space and my goal was to make it cozy. I wanted to make it a place I would enjoy sipping my morning coffee or reading before bed. I also wanted to add a sense of congruency throughout the space by unifying the iron furniture.

I purchased outdoor pillows in bright orange hues that seemed to shout "Indian Summer" to me. After all, I always hope for an Indian Summer, and another reason to get to use the porch a little longer.

The pillows are able to bring that cozy feeling that is typically felt inside to the outdoors. I simply love the idea of pillows at any dining room table too. I've seen this trend in different Chicago restaurants and love the comfort element such a little accessory carries.

This black table started out white and had been on my deck since approximately 1992. I wanted to unify the dinette set and the side tables so I purchased black spray paint and paint markers. I was very happy with the end result. I also went to the Tag Outlet where I bought this vintage inspired watering can and various candles. The candles are in the same color family as the pillows and are made to look like they're in coconut shells or tin buckets, both of which proclaim summer. I'm still not sure what to do with that terracotta planter aside from plant something. Does anyone have any unconventional crafty ideas?

Here is the other painted table that began its makeover white. I temporarily decided this end table could house a bunch of plants that have yet to see the ground. I love live foliage and really wouldn't mind keeping them in this corner.

All in all, from the back door looking out I am quite proud...
