Weekend Recap

This weekend was very busy. What weekend typically isn't? I feel we all try to cram as much excitement and happiness into our hiatus from the real world and hope those times will last us the duration of the next week!

My man was home, which always means this girl is in a better mood. I can tell I have an overall happier disposition by Wednesday if I know I'll be seeing him over the weekend.

Unfortunately, Bob's dog died this weekend. Bingo was 13 years old, and the result of Bob's allowance when he was in the 3rd grade. He'll be greatly missed, that's for sure.

To try to keep Bob's spirits high I suggested we hit up a salvage shop. The two of us always dream about fixing up a home, and doing the rehab work ourselves. I would design and decorate while he would manage the construction end of it all. We recently learned about salvage shops and were astonished that we just discovered their existence.

For those of you as in the dark as we were, they're basically thrift stores for items and resources used in homes. You can find incredibly affordable and unique things that would cost an arm and a leg, or whatever your chosen currency is, elsewhere. They sell things like: dishwashers, antique and new doors, sinks, chandeliers, wood flooring, marble, and an abundance of wood. They're fun and a great way to recycle and protect our environment while saving a dime.

We had an absolute blast exploring this place. It really got our creative juices flowing.

After wards we headed on over to Chili's to use a gift card I'd received for my birthday. Thank you, Aunt Kay! Right now Chili's has a menu for $9.99 that includes an appetizer and entree, both full size. I was astonished and full when we left, great deal.

We finished the weekend last night clad in hoodies and blankets. We sat outside at Bob's cousins house and had a bonfire and chatted for hours. It was nice, no TV, just enjoying each others company. It was a great reminder of the impending Summer.

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend full of simplicity and good times. I can't wait to read up on your blogs and see for myself.

  2. Oooh I have to check out a salvage shop! I always see them on HGTV (and the designers always seem to find the most adorable things!!)

I'm so sorry about Bob's dog.. animals become part of the family and it's so hard to lose them.

  3. That is sad about Bob's dog...I'm so sorry...

I would love to do the same thing - get a house, have an unlimited budget (yeah, yeah) and fix it up. Someday, perhaps...I'll be happy with whatever the Lord gives us though. :) But, it's fun to dream...
