I am so happy as I write this. Why? Because I just finished hanging out with Bob. He’s home and he doesn’t have to return to central Illinois again, unless he so wishes.
He graduated this weekend and the whole weekend was such a blast. I left Thursday afternoon with his sister Lizzy to drive out there. She is genuinely one of those wonderful well rounded people that never says a bad word about anyone. She has such a heart of gold and being around her makes you feel a bit like a better person. We drove the four hour drive without listening to the radio once. It was great gabbing with her about life and our dreams and just having a good time. I am so so blessed to have met Liz and Les through Bob.
Once there Bob made us a spaghetti dinner before we went out for the night. We went to the corner bar and played drinking games and had such a wonderful time. It was carefree to the umpth degree.
After our night on the town we packed up Bob’s things and got ready for his family’s arrival. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned before but Bob is one of six kids. He is the 3rd oldest. All save one were in attendance along with his parents and Liz’s boyfriend. The hotels were booked a year in advance so everyone was in Bob’s studio for the eve of commencement. We were packed like a can of sardines. Two air mattresses, one futon, one mattress pad, and one rogue graduate sleeping on the floor
… Oh and a partridge in a pair tree. I know someone took a photo of all 9 of us, I’ll have to get my hands on a copy to post.
Then come Saturday was the day we’d been waiting for. Bob looked phenomenal in some duds I’d purchased for him from J Crew. I donned my new Trina Turk frock and Coach wedges and he graduated!
God is good. I am so happy to have my man home alas!
On a side note one of my favorite cousins Nate, is in the hospital. He has pneumonia and they want to keep him a couple more days to monitor his oxygen levels. He will be entering his senior year in college next year, and is hospitalized in his college town right now. If you could keep this young man in your thoughts and prayers, it would make this girl very grateful. Thank you!
