Friday I am an adult

Friday I am an adult. I am a grown woman of 24. Sometimes being an adult means not doing what we want.

What on earth is she talking about this time?

The Chicago Blackhawks! My team, they won it. I’m sure if you care about hockey you’ve heard about it. If not they won the Stanley Cup. I have been the biggest hawks fan imaginable since before Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski tied the knot.

When I was a kid my Dad had season tickets that happened to place us 3rd row off the ice. While I had dreams of JTT they also included Sergei Krivokrasov

He played for the Blackhawks from ‘92-‘98. And made one elementary school girl very happy.

Tomorrow the Hawks are having a parade in the city of Chicago. A parade and a rally to celebrate this victory.  A victory that hadn’t happened since 1961.

Parade equates to party. Chicago knows how to party. If you’ve ever heard of Chicago’s Southside Irish parade you know it is the Mardi Gras of the Midwest. Er, was until it was cancelled due to its rowdiness last year.

I will not be attending this party because my test for my real estate course is on Monday and I need to study like my life depends on it. I need the Barnes and Noble, or BN (as us hip frequenters call it) employees to ponder if I have moved in.

So I will have faith that there will be more Stanley cup victories. And when I have my Realtor license and my bake account has an addition sign again, then I will reminisce about that Friday I was an adult.

  1. Congrat's to your team.
