Roll Out

Once upon a time in a land called high school Princess Katie had to work for spending money. She worked in the only surviving Chi-Chi’s Mexican Restaurant in Illinois, before it’s demise. Princess Katie had a manager whom once told her he used to work at Red Lobster. The two laughed and discussed the ever popular and addicting Cheesy Rolls that Red Lobster serves up to it's patrons.

Then her manager whispered one word to her. One word that would forever tell the secret to these ooey gooey rolls. That word is: Crisco. Oh you didn’t hear me? I said

imageI kid you not. My manager told me that most people aren’t aware that this is the secret behind their successful rolls that people request be the droves.

Maybe this will refresh your memory?

imageAnyway, many a year later I decided to investigate a little more into what else goes into these rolls I found a detailed recipe and thought I’d share it with you, because that’s just the kind of gal I am.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 8 tablespoons Butter Flavor Crisco
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • melted butter

1. Preheat oven to 450*.

2. Mix garlic salt, dry mustard and cayenne into flour.

3. Cut in Crisco, until mixture resembles cornmeal.

4. Fold in cheese.

5. Add milk and mix gently.

6. Drop by heaping tablespoonful onto buttered cookie sheet.

7. Brush tops with melted butter.

8. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.

Do note this recipe is not mine, but was found here.

Delicious! Now go eat and be merry.
