Top 2 Tuesday

I thought I would finally stop standing on the sidelines and start joining in on the fun hosted by Taylor @ The Undomestic Momma with top 2 tuesday.

Taylor asks what are your Top 2 Favorite Books?

Reading is one of my absolute favorite hobbies. As a little girl I was horrible at it! I needed extra help. I still loved stories, and would read myself to sleep every night. Then with time, I became an advanced reader, and now speed read through books.

1.  Roses by Leila Meacham- Roses spans the life of Mary Toliver who is wealthy by means of cotton. It details her love triangle amongst two other wealthy families in her small Texas town. Bottom line: It is utterly romantic, and I love historic romances.

2. The Help by Kathryn Stockett- The Help is another historic book, this time centered around Skeeter, a young single college graduate with a passion for writing. She struggles to find what to write about and then it dawns on her, she wants to write about the struggles her African American help face from day to day. It is incredibly dangerous and takes place  in Mississippi.

I love literature with a historic time frame and I love books that are placed in the South. I could continue to list other phenomenal books, specifically those in the Chic Lit category, but these two novels are what spoke to me on a deeper level.

  4. I'm reading a book about raising toddlers... why is it that I can get through a good book in 3 days but the stuff I "need" to read... takes months!?!? Sure wish I had more time for recreational reading; these sound like good ones!

  6. I'm planning on reading The Help this summer. I love historical fiction too. You should read Water for Elephants! It follows a traveling circus after the Great Depression. It's really good!

Carrie- You amaze me with raising that little boy of yours. You just wait, in a couple of years I'll be the one begging you for child raising book titles.

Ashley, what're you reading right now?

Lea, I've eyed it before, but after this recommendation I'll have to pick it up for sure, especially before the movie comes out. Thanks for the tip. :)
