Happy May!

I hope all of you Mothers had such an amazing Mother’s Day filled with love and your family. I went home for the weekend for ultimate family time. You see, everyone in my family is born in the month of May except for me.

  • Design Apprentice Mama- May 4th
  • MB, my younger sister- May 7th
  • Design Apprentice Dad- May 19th

Throw in Mother’s Day and you bet your bottom dollar I had to go home and celebrate.

On Friday Bob and I joined my family and we celebrated both my sister and mom’s birthdays with gluten free lasagna. For you newer readers, my Mom has a gluten allergy and has found the most delish gluten free foods, you can’t even taste a difference. (I think I have this allergy too, but am too foolish stubborn to give up gluten quite yet.)

After dinner we ate gluten free cupcakes from Sprinkles. They were red velvet with cream cheese frosting, and they were to die for.

After dinner  Bob, my parents, and I watched Due Date. Tried and true there have been so many movies I haven’t had a strong desire to see but after Bob’s insistence I eat my words (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Hangover) this was one of those movies. Both my Mom and I thought Robert Downey Jr. looked way more attractive in this movie than any other film he’s been in before.

I spent Saturday running errands with my Mom. I bought a ton of candles from this incredible homemade candle shop near my house. It’s quaint, affordable,  and the scents are out of this world. I bought a lot of accessories because… I found out I’m approved for my new place, so exciting!

On Sunday we had a lovely Mother’s day brunch and spent the entire day with my immediate family, I can’t remember the last time we did this and it was a gift for all of us. We then went to my Grandparent’s house and visited with them before heading to church and dinner. It was a perfect Mother’s Day and a great way to honor my Mom who is also my best friend. I bought her 4 new urns for our front door and front yard so that she can plant something pretty.

Happy Monday all!

  1. Sounds like an amazing weekend. May is a very popular birthday month in my family too. I'm going to have to try the Sprinkle's gluten free cupcakes - and see Due Date too - it's been on my list (right up there with Country Strong, which I haven't seen yet either!).
