Will you be in my wedding?

When it comes to asking those nearest and dearest to be in your wedding it’s hard to find the right way. These are the people that mean the most to you and you want by your side when you start your life as a married couple. Do you call over the phone? Do you take them out to eat? Do you send them an invitation? How about just facebooking or texting?

I wanted to make sure I asked the female side of our bridal party in a special and unique way. I saw so many beautiful invitations on etsy.com but wanted something unique, something I could make myself. So I headed out to papersource and found some beautiful paper and with a glass of white wine I got to writing.

Here’s a preview for two of my program helpers, my flower girl, and my maid of honor. I love how they turned out, and I was able to incorporate our colors into the design. I got such positive feedback from the entire bridal party, so we’re off to a good start.

Now who are these people? I’m happy you asked! Tomorrow I’ll introduce you to the ladies of our wedding party!

I have a crush on jayson

I have been wanting to go to Jayson Home for over a year and have never made my way into their beautiful doors. That is until this weekend. Bob and I embarked on an adventure to the beautiful home goods and gardening store and were blown away by the eclectic variety of goodies.

We started off in their garden, a favorite activity of B. The man has a garden collection like you wouldn’t believe in our little condo.

I have a feeling I know where we will be buying our plants moving forward. Can you blame us? Didn’t think so.

As you can see there are countless amazing pieces at Jayson. Every item is a statement and it really helps create the voice you want your home to have. We walked out with a new topiary and some potted moss, but alas with the knowledge that we will return with a bigger pocketbook very soon.

Big sigh of relief

Greetings, friends! I’ve not been here but I’ve been around. Mostly I have diligently switched from sweat pants to interview clothes and back again many times in the past month. I’ve watched more reality television than any self respecting woman should view in an entire year and painted my nails enough to be awarded an honorary nail tech certification. I set a wedding date, chose a venue, and got a job. If that isn’t a life altering sentence all rolled up into one sentence I don’t know what is. So, let’s break it down.

After applying to roughly 35 companies I was contacted by a recruiter for a position with a Fortune 500 company. We set up an interview at the process began to unfold with interviewing rounds. I lost count after the 4th or 5th round but was offer the position and gladly accepted, I start tomorrow. I’m beyond elated, I never thought a company like this would hire me and the opportunity is much better than I was given at my previous job.

Side note: My last job was a jeans, sperrys, and t shirt type of ensemble place. Tomorrow I rejoin those who wear business clothing which meant ample shopping. I plan on sporting this little number manana:

[The Limited]

And I see this dress is now  half of what I paid for it on Sunday, that’s super.

Wedding Date: 5/4/13

What’s really unique is this also happens to be my lovely Mama’s birthday. The two dates available were the 4th and memorial day. We’re big proponents of not committing people for a holiday weekend and my mom had no problem sharing the spotlight so we booked it.

Church: Our Lady of The Woods

We decided to get married at a church very near and dear to our hearts. B an I met at Our Lady of The Woods in the summer of 2004 on a mission trip. We began our relationship there surrounded by our best friends and it was such an incredible beginning to our journey so far. Our families are both parishioners there and we’ve been involved in the church as well. I taught religious education there, and went to Europe with the youth group while in college to see the Pope. Our Lady of The Woods just makes sense.

VenueThe Nineteenth Century Club

We found the venue and it’s truly a blank canvas and I can do so much with it! It’s located in Oak Park, one of the cutest suburbs there could possibly be. It’s a gorgeous women’s club and all proceeds go back to their scholarships for women. We rented out the entire facility and will have cocktails on the main floor followed by the reception upstairs. There downstairs is set up like an elegant front room and can also serve as an escape for guests who want less dancing and more chatting.

I took another photo of it and added my own make shift elements for the look I’ll be trying to achieve. Branches, shabby chic, wishing tree, pastels, swoon.

Such a relief to have this part of the wedding taken care of. We are so excited to dive even more into the planning. And another huge relief? Having a job to begin tomorrow, thank God!
